Why only 1,600 meters out of 8 million ? Perhaps is is just one of the many design flaws that affect all the meters, not just the 1,600 that PG&E has announced to the public.
Heat related problems are nothing new, and most electronic devices designed for use outdoors like traffic signal controllers have heat syncs in them, so what happened with the meters ?
And not once has PG&E or any other power industry ever admitted that all these hundreds of millions of new electric meters being deployed across the country need hundreds of millions of watts of electrical energy per hour to transmit radio frequency data.
Is that why Obama wants to build more nuclear plants, to power all the new meters ?
Next, we will have rolling blackouts because of all this huge new electrical load on the power grid to power the new meters and eliminate meter reading jobs.
People across the country should really ramp up the opposition to the new meters.
In California, we need to really put some heavy pressure on the CPUC regarding PG&E’s supposed opt out plan as proposed. We have until September of this year to correct PG&E’s fraud of an opt out plan, which is not an opt out at all. PG&E must think the public is “super stupid”.
PG&E insults everyone by talking down to the public and thinking that nobody will ever question their authority.
