Don’t let BC Hydro attach the smart meter to your building. They can locate it somewhere else and then run the power lines from the meter to your house or business. EASY. This old practice of “having” to attach the meter to the wall of the house is just bull$hit. If it is absolutely impossible to locate the meter elsewhere (which I doubt as it can be a mile away), then you inform BC Hydro that you will charge them rent for using your building to mount their meter. Write them and advise BC Hydro that the rental rate is $60, which is double the amount they demand so you can keep your good reliable safe analog meter.

Our meter is about 50 yds away in a separate little building in the Condo complex, mounted with the meters from most of the other units. The problem here is that if one meter goes they all will. I have my own generator to cover that problem. It could be interesting if there is a meter problem, as we have an account with BC hydro. This is a contract, and if their meter fails, they will be violating the contract. Maybe I can charge BC Hydro for using my generator to supply electricity that they are contracted to provide. PS: It will be an EXTREMELY valuable generator.

Having read most of the above, I think that you all need to wake up.

Ameren has been threatening to install smart meters here in Mt Vernon IL but without notifying people in advance. Hopefully we can get a 6-12 month delay via the ICC or Illinois Attorney General because they are violating the law thereby. Please visit my related webpage and leave a comment if possible.
