In reply to Becky. It's completely true that Ojai passed a law prohibiting smart meters. However, any law is only as effective as what enforcement stands behind it. The police apparently are not enforcing the law, which allows SCE to come in and install- unless people stop them!

This article was/is not accurate. I work in downtown Ojai and watched the technician installing smart meters at All the businesses on our block. The thrift shop I work at, the luggage store next door and the Ojai Board of Realtors all have smart meters , this article is Not true.

Thank you Ojai. Another Maine voice here! We are crossing our fingers that the Maine Supreme Court agrees that the MainePUC failed its legislative duty to provide “safe” service. If they send it back to the PUC, we are hoping for more public hearings!!! (This will be unprecendented, but I’m sure the utilities will pull out all of the stops and $$$$ and will have their “professionals” all lined up. ) Anyone from Ojai want to visit Maine this year? We will want a HUGE turnout. Some of us here are not paying the opt out fee, but are getting threatened with disconnection….My total not paid is up to about $180.00, so I’m getting close to getting cut off. Hubby don’t play that, so, I don’t know what to do. Thanks again.

Another voice from Maine thanking you for listening, learning and taking a stand to protect your towns people! Prior to/during the roll-out of smart meters in Maine, I personally sent info regarding the problems with smart meters to every single town council/selectmen in Maine. Only four towns objected to the rollout with only 1 town writing an opt-in ordinance (Town of Bath, Maine). It’s encouraging to at least know in other parts of the country, there are still intelligent and independent thinkers actually doing their jobs and willing to fight for their residents constitutional rights to privacy and to protect their homes and family. Local SCE claims all arguments against smart meters are lies. Plus they also claim that there are no cities or countys in California that has banned or declaired Smart Meters as illegal.
