Hi Peter,

Thanks for your comment– I will address your comments one by one:

I do not live in Marin County- we are based in Plumas County, a mountainous, relatively working class rural county in the Northeast of California. We do not think of geographic areas as “the man” anyway — more institutions.

We do reject wireless technology as a dangerous, ill-conceived, and red-herring technology that is very seductive and addictive but whose day will come sooner than we all probably think. See: https://stopsmartmeters.org/warning/

I have personally not owned a cell phone in more than six years- it’s just not needed. Leave a message on our landline I will call you back. Thanks for your avid concern for our activist priorities–we see smart meters and wireless as one more manifestation of a system that is set up to profit at the expense of life. Our point is not so much to win this one issue and be damned with the rest, our point is to shed light on the roots of the system that gave rise to smart meters and other ills, and to reset that system, together with our allies in related movements, with a healthier set of priorities so this never happens again.

Except a quick scan of the locations you post about shows Marin Co., the cites in it, along with the Bay Area. These represent some of the richest places in the country and the world for that matter; you in many ways are the “man”.

If these smart meter RF emissions are so bad, then why aren’t you rejecting Microwaves, Wireless home phones, and Bluetooth. All of these use the same RF bands you are protesting against and most at much higher emission levels than a smart meter. For that matter these RF bands have been in use since the 1940’s.

As for the mobile phone networks….do you actually live a cell phone free life? I kind of doubt it. The LTE networks you rail against are actually deployed in former TV bands, “700” MHz. This includes the original “800” MHz band used for analog service and then 3G services. During analog days the phones often had ~3W amplifiers compared to the typical 3G phone ~0.6W now; where was the protest 35 years ago? Are you going to protest the TV stations which are still using adjacent frequencies?

Most of this seems to be NIBYism or the pursuit of a well off person with too much time on their hands. What you seem to be doing, time and again, pushes unwanted things on to people with no time or energy to fight, the poor If you want to care about something so passionately, fight for social justice that does not affect you. There is so much to address.
