THIS IS HARASSMENT, THESE PEOPLE ARE HIRED TO DO A JOB AND GET PAID TO DO THE JOB, ITS NOT THEIR FAULT THAT ELEC COMPANIES ARE SWITCHING TO SMART METERS. THIS IS VERY SAD AND DISGUSTING THAT YOU WANT TO HARASS WORKING CLASS PEOPLE. I HOPE SOMEONE DOES THIS TO YOU AND SCARES THE HELL OUT OF YOU AS I AM SURE YOU DID TO THIS INDIVIDUAL. YOU DISGUST ME AND THIS WHOLE SITE DISGUST ME, PEOPLE NEED TO EDUCATE THEMSELVES UPON SMART METERS AND YOU WILL SEE HOW IT HELPS YOU AS THE CUSTOMER LEARN HOW TO SAVE MONEY BY WATCHING YOUR USAGE… AND IF ANY INFO IS GIVEN TO POLICE ON OUTRAGEOUS USEAGE, ITS PROBABLY BECAUSE THE PERSON IS DOING SOMETHING ILLEGAL INSIDE THE HOME.
IM VERY SAD FOR THE PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN THIS SITE AND THE CREATORS….

You do realize, Melissa, don’t you, that the info that allows you “learn how to save money by watching your usage”, also allows the utility company to watch YOU? They know when you’re home and when you aren’t, what electric devices you use, and when you are using them. They even know if you get up in the night to use the bathroom. All this information is stored and creates a profile of YOU and what’s going on in your home at any given time. This can be sold to people who want that information, including marketers, insurance companies, law enforcement, private investigators, etc. Your meter can also be hacked, allowing burglars to cut the power to your security alarm and rob you; since each electric device you have has a unique electric signature, they’ll know if you have a flat screen tv, what kind of computer you have and so on.

The utility company wants to charge you more for peak energy use, so having the information of what time of day you are using electricity will allow them to charge you more for that time period, and then charge you even more if you use an excess over the allotted limit for that time period (tiered pricing). Do you want to change your life to save money by doing laundry at 10 p.m.?

If someone were going to inject poison into your home, would you want to protect yourself by stopping them from doing it? Or would you feel sorry for the person hired to do the job and just let them do it? While you may not think that smart meters are equivalent to poison, there is ample evidence that they are dangerous to our health, safety and privacy. If you don’t care about any of this, then enjoy your smart meter and good luck to you. Those of us who want to protect ourselves against an assault on our health, our safety and privacy will continue to protest and do whatever we can to keep ourselves safe from smart meters.
