European Electro-Smog Protest This Week

On Wednesday 16 November, in Brussels, there will be a major protest of the growing saturation of EMF pollution in the environment. The action is backed by a long list of groups concerned with the problem. According to Microwave News, there are more than 70 doctors, professors, and other professionals who have signed a petition organized by the groups, calling for a revision of limits.

The consortium of groups supporting the protest is calling urgently on the EU for five different objectives, and “No ‘smart’ wireless energy meters” is on the list. Here’s a poster for the event. The protest is scheduled to coincide with the 2011 International Scientific Conference on EMF and Health. From Microwave News: “Only one side of the research community was invited to speak. Check out the program: no surprises, just all the usual names and faces —those who don’t think there’s much risk— with only a few exceptions”–hence the protest.

Spread the word to friends and family in Europe- this is a global fight with global consequences!

SMART METERS ARE ONLY GOOD FOR UTILITY COMPANY EXECUTIVES

Concepts and theory sounds great, but upon closer inspection:

    A. Utility bills are increasing where smart meters are installed, not decreasing.

    B. Customer information from smart meters is NOT formatted for customers and does NOT change customer behavior towards conservation.

    C. Increased utility rates may decrease energy usage, but that can be done with inexpensive time-of-use meters, NOT requiring expensive smart meters.

    D. The cost – benefit of smart meters is horrendous and is being promoted to profit the utility companies and their suppliers, not customers or our society or our environment.

    E. The Smart Grid does NOT use or require a smart meter on each home. The necessary smart information can be gathered much more efficiently and timely and inexpensively at energy distribution points. (The smart grid does not care how much power any one home uses.)

    F. The vast amount of unnecessary and nearly useless information to be handled and stored may actually end up raising energy usage.

    G. This massive Billions-of-dollars smart meter program will leave NO funds for programs that would truly bring energy saving solutions and the public will not be receptive to real solutions after being burned by these Smart meters.

About European Electro-Smog and other things related to utilities.
We have it very bad here, and it is getting worse with all these new radio transmitting meters being added. Not all states or regions have allowed the new meters, for many reasons.
But in Europe, things are much different. According to one blogger yesterday, in the UK, the utility conducts “energy audits” of peoples private homes. The officers do a complete investigation of the whole home. They note all lights, appliances and devices, read the rating plates and document all electrical devices and appliances, then tally up everything and evaluate efficiency and make reports to be kept on file with the government and share that information with law enforcement and corporations. They can even force a subject to buy a new appliance if they want to. Talk about Big Brother.
And something I saw on RT news this morning, in Oxford, England the government has just ordered all “houses” to be equipped with CCTV cameras and microphones, recording the inside of their subjects homes both audio and video. Many of these CCTV systems are wireless devices transmitting inside peoples homes. Obviously each and every home must have a broadband connection, either fiber-optic or coaxial cable.
Just imagine if our government tried to pull off something like that here. Imagine, having to let PG&E inside your home to document what makes and models of lights and appliances everyone has. There would be an uproar.
Perhaps some of these accounts written by Europeans about smart meters are not all science fiction, I have seen people on TV in the UK protesting that they are tired of the way that their governments spy on and control their subjects.
Hopefully, for us in the United States, things will never deteriorate to such a low level of privacy and freedom as it is in Europe.
